The 88 is a four-piece rock/pop band from LA that blends British Invasion melodies with an instrumental approach that recalls David Bowie and other '70s rock icons. The band has appeared in numerous ads and TV shows, including performances on The Late Late Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly and "How I Met Your Mother." "It's a fairly safe bet to assume that the band will realize a respectable level of notoriety, the very kind of notoriety that L.A. is built on. For good reason, too - the 88 makes the sort of effortless, embraceable pop that can easily flatter whatever tainted image its hometown harbors." Pop Matters. "On their superslick major-label debut (which features a few tunes produced by R&B maestro Babyface), it's easy to hear what attracted Hollywood and Madison Avenue: These glammy rave-ups -- imagine Mika fronting Maroon 5 -- conjure big emotions without getting mired in tawdry realities." SPIN online.

The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra
(known to some as FTO) makes idiosyncratic pop songs with intricate instrumentation and lush male/female vocal harmonies. "FTO's undeniably strong pop sensibilities [force] them apart from the rest of the trendy herd. Unexpected quirks, richly textured layers and obviously keen musicianship keep this band grounded while others drift into musical oblivion. OC Weekly. "Filled with dreamy pop anthems, The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra's Escapements is delightfully eclectic as their name sounds. Strings, chimes, Camera Obscura-esque guitar riffs, and driving drums come together in enticing staccato rhythms and are then balanced with just enough delicateness to spell out a genuine pop feeling throughout the entire EP.
